Summary
On the 27th June 2002 in Los Angeles, Bob Justman, the Assistant Director and Associate Producer of Star Trek (The Original Series) held an auction of Star Trek Props and Costumes.
A group of Star Trek fans bought the last piece of carpet removed from the set of the bridge of the Starship USS Enterprise NCC 1701 in 1969.
This piece of carpet had been on the set of every Star Trek episode from 1966 to 1969 in the upper deck support stations area where Uhura, Spock and Scotty sat. It is now 40 years old.
It was removed by John Jefferies, the set decorator and brother of Matt Jefferies, the shows Art Director. It has been kept since 1969 in their Aircraft hanger locker along with many other Star Trek TOS props that were also being auctioned.
The carpet was supplied with a letter from John Jefferies, stating that it was the last piece of carpet removed from the USS Enterprise,
The carpet is mounted as a 1 inch piece with a copy of the letter from John Jefferies and a limited edition numbered plaque for $79.99 US plus $20.00 Post and Packing. We have had some autographed by the stars of the show but these have now sold out. The mounts for sale here are not autographed.
There are ONLY a Limited number and after that, there are no more...
Included with your 1 inch piece of bridge carpet is a 14" x 11" mount, Limited edition brushed gold numbered plaque, copy of letter from John Jeffries, photocopy of the auction catalogue page and letter of authenticity / carpet history.
This is a must for Star Trek fans and collectors!! The Official UK Star Trek Fan Club said that the carpet comes with the promise that Captain James T. Kirk and his crew once walked accross those very same fibres and made science fiction history.
